Why are my Ketone levels so low?
I have been on the keto diet for 60 days, lost 29 pounds so far and glucose levels have dropped to 95. Why are my ketone levels so low? I purchased a ketone meter and my levels are between 0.2-0.4 first thing in the AM. I was thinking my levels would be much higher by now. I am limiting myself to 20 carbs per day on most days
Thank you

Hi Ken! Congrats on the amazing progress! My guess would be that your body knows what to do with the ketones so you don’t have many spilling over into your urine. Are you using a blood or breath ketone monitor? If so, perhaps you are consuming something that is lowering your ketones such as sugar alcohols. I would keep a journal of your ketone levels for a week and what you are eating to see when your levels fluctuate. Maybe that will help! If it makes you feel any better I don’t test for ketones either but have other signs that say I’m in ketosis. 🙂
