What do I do after I’ve reached my goal weight?
i want to know how you use Keto once you have reached the desired weight you wanted? One site I read said I need 2300 calories to maintain my weight. I am 66 years old and 6’2” and weigh 180. Can you advise me?

Hey Milton!
What a great question! There are differences in opinion on this based on your long term goals. For me, I use Keto as a tool. If I am wanting to lose some weight, increase focus or do a cleanse, I will be strict keto watching my caloric intake, etc. Most of the time, however, I will follow a high quality Paleo type diet since I am now hovering over my goal weight. I don’t actually calculate my macros if I am just eating Paleo.
If you would still like to track and just maintain weight, you can increase your daily carbs to around 50 then maintain with your macros of higher fat and moderate protein. I would download an app to keep track of what you are doing. Apps like My Fitness Pal will calculate what your numbers should be based on your goals. Most of the time it will ask what deficit you would like for your calories. For you to maintain, you wouldn’t add in any deficit. I hope that helps!

Here are some options after you’ve reached your desired weight:
- Switch to a Paleo diet,
which will allow you to eat more clean carbs and reduce the counting macros component - Stay on Keto but increase you food intake…to calculate your macros for Keto for weight maintenance, I suggest using The Detailed Version of the Keto Calculator. There’s a step in the calculator that allows you to choose whether you’re looking to lose or maintain weight.
Just remember, the calculator is an estimate of your calories and macros needs. Use it as a guide.

hey, for me i’d say go to something more paleo.
keto was not realistic for me long term. i’ve been eating paleo for 3 or 4 years now and whenever i don’t feel great or put on a couple of pounds then i’ll go back to the keto diet for 2 or 3 weeks
that’s worked for me. speaking of, i need to go back keto because i just got back from a trip and ate way too much bread and pasta, whoops!
