Weight loss - now gain...

I’ve been completely full keto for about 50 days or so now.  At my highest point I’d lost about 13 pounds.  Now I’ve gained back 7 pounds… I’ve changed nothing.  I’m a 44 year old female with a full thyroidectomy (I am on Synthroid for that).  I’m about 5’7” and 219 pounds.  I am still sticking with full keto because I actually really like it but the increase in weight has me discouraged.  Thoughts?  Suggestions?

Thanks for reaching out! First of all, congrats on the weight loss. Super job! It sounds like the Synthroid is part of what is going on with the weight gain.  There are a few other factors that may be contributing to your weight gain that aren’t dietary in nature. How’s your stress level? How’s your sleep? Both of these are HUGE in your weight loss journey. If your stress level has increased it can raise your cortisol levels….that unfortunately triggers fat storage. Another big factor when I hit a stall or gain is not drinking enough water. You should drink at least half of your body weight in water (in oz). You could also try a fat fast or an egg fast to jump-start your metabolism. Here is a great site for recipes to do an egg fast but watch out for the recipes with dairy if you are sensitive.

Hey Kelly, I’d agree with Becky on this one.

If I were you I’d look into other areas outside of diet for a bit. Are you walking enough and getting some exercise, etc. Maybe meditating?

I was looking at the egg fast menu plan…. I see that everyday has the bullet proof coffee.  I do not drink coffee.  Is there anything I can substitute in place of the coffee?  and if so, what and how do I mix it?

    Do you ever practice intermittent fasting? Maybe try that and skip the breakfast part all together? You could do bullet proof tea if that’s something you want to drink that was similar. :)
