Question about sugar alcohols...
I’ve read that not all sugar alcohols are the same. Specifically, Maltitol gram count should be reduced by only 25%. So, if my protein bar has 24g Carbs, 1g Fiber and 20g of sugar alcohols (with Maltitol as the sugar alcohol) I can’t just simply subtract 21g from the total carb count… and in fact I should only subtract 1g for the fiber and 5g for the sugar alcohol.
Here is the article I am referring to: https://ketosummit.com/are-sugar-alcohols-keto
Thanks,
Jim

Hey Jim! Congrats on being 4 days in. 🙂 Way to go! Hopefully you didn’t get the keto flu. Sugar alcohols are a personal thing and will vary based on articles you read. I have heard good advice from a few places that said you should count the fiber in your vegetables (to count them as net carbs) then do total carbs for anything that is not a veggie. This would keep your intake low overall. Hope that helps.
