Keto diet
I want to start a keto diet but unfortunately it’s impossible for me not have a family dinner in the evening. I can go ‘carb free’low carb’ for breakfast and lunch but dinner is virtually impossible. I usually have brown rice or bulgur wheat with my protein.
Is there any point in me starting a keto diet. I want to lose 3 stones and ive tried so many ways to shed the weight but it’s never worked effectively.
Thanks

If you do NOT eat the brown rice or bulgur wheat, you will be fine. There are lots of other types of food that you can change out with those two items.

Ramusa – I so totally get what you are saying here ! We eat organic vegie fish so no real dietary changes needed to “go healthy” in usual, non-ketonic ways. I’ve been doing keto and LCHF for the past 3-4 weeks or so w great success – 10 lb weight drop, blood keto + ( .5-.7 when I’ve tested ) and feeling great. Working on ways to add healthy carbs and keep all this going. As long as 1. scale drops a pound every 4-6 days, 2. I test keto + most of the time, and 3. I feel this good and remain sensitive to this degree of feeling good, I think I’m doing OK.
SO, for family meals, I try to stay under 5 carbs until dinner and then monitor my own part of dinner so that I’m eating more healthy fat than carbs and keeping net carbs under 20. That’s LCHF, not keto but as long as 1.,2.,and 3. are still OK, all good. If these drop off I might just do a pure keto day or two until I’m back on track. That’s happening 1-2-3 times a week these days
10 lbs to go. Once there, I’m going to see how I can slowly add back carbs on a regular basis while maintaining goal weight and feeling good. Then use keto measures if weight climbs and work out wways to maintain all this.
Good of luck with this ! My first entry to this forum. Cool beans to have this here.

Cook the grains for your family, but don’t eat them. I assume you also serve vegetables? My husband and I have very different tastes. I make what he likes and additional vegetables for myself.

I know some people use cauliflower and make cauliflower rice instead of brown rice. That might help you be able to go ketogenic and lose the rest of your weight, or to use juliennes of carrot or zucchini to give a pasta type effect instead of rice.
