Keto and Graves Disease
Hello, I was diagnosed with Graves disease and am due to go off medication soon to see if I go into remission. I have been paleo for 18 mths and feel great and want to know if going veto will further help my chances of settling my thyroid down so that I won’t need to remove/ablate it if I don’t go into remission once off the meds. Has anyone had experience with kept and Graves? Thx

Hi! Congrats on your progress! I’m sending well wishes your way! I personally have not dealt with Graves and Keto but I would think it could help. I know that keto is great to stabilize hormone levels so I’d say go for it, with the support of your doctor! Keep up the great work!

Hi, I had Graves Disease in my early 20’s when I also was diagnosed with Type 1 (or Juvenile) Diabetes. I wish I knew about Keto then, but I didn’t. Now, I’m in my 40’s and am finally working on using the Keto diet to control my blood sugars. My Graves Disease was treated with radiation and I ended up not having to take any medications for over 12 years. Now my thyroid has gone the other way into hypothyroidism and it’s under control with Synthroid. Any questions, let me know.
