Keto and GBS (Gullian Barrre Syndrom)
Hi-I don’t personally have experience with this but I do know that eliminating sugars from your diet makes a big impact on your health for the good! I recommend it for everyone! Becky
- Thanks Becky the reason I ask is my girl friend went through GBS in 2014 and is still recovering. At the beginning we discovered the GAIN website and downloaded some information which said avoid all forms of sugar. At the time I had my own battle with metabolic syndrome and had started a ketogenic lifestyle to defeat high blood sugar and arterial disease. I tried to get her to do the same in the hope that it might speed her recovery by enabling her to breakdown and use fats to restore the Myelin (blood sugar signals the production of insulin in the presence of insulin leptin production is stopped. Leptin is the hormone required to remove the middle fatty acid group of the triglyceride molecule (fat) and this is the rate limiting step to being able to use these molecules in the reconstruction of the body. I haven’t been able to find any scientific papers to confirm that cutting sugar would help in Myelin repair. Also I did find information about Progesterone being able to promote Myelin production but have not found any Dr using this hormone as a treatment for GBS patients. I might try looking for links on the FDA Medwatch database via Sayer Ji’s GreenMedinfo search engine. If I find any thing I’ll share it. Cheers Mike
