intermittent fasting

Hi, my husband and I started Keto  a few weeks ago and are now going to add intermittent fasting (for us eating between noon and seven p.m.) However my husband thinks he can still have his powder green drink when he gets up in the morning. Won’t that count as food and mess up the fast? Thought you could only have black or bullet coffee and water. Thanks for any feedback.

Hey Jan-great question. There are conflicting opinions on this subject. Some say that anything that spikes your insulin is considered breaking a fast. Doing bullet proof coffee with butter and stevia does not spike the insulin so some say it doesn’t break the fast. Others will say that anything besides water or black coffee will break a fast.  I would ask your husband how he feels if he doesn’t have the greens powder. Which one feels better in his body for him? I would follow that feeling and go from there.
