Has anyone experienced a low libido since being on keto?

I’ve been eating keto for 7 months and am now at my ideal body weight.  However, my libido is very low, which is odd because I should feel sexy now that I’m my ideal body weight.  My husband is bummed!

Sorta funny male here, my libido has been non existent since I started a low carb diet over a year ago. Gone completely keto this last few months. Sorta funny at 27 and no sex drive or interest in females for sexual procreation. Or even the drive to have interest in material of sexual nature. Theory is the body is in a state of ketosis which is essentially a from fasting and restriction of carbs. Body might consider sexual procreation, and raising a child in a time of fasting/low carb intake to be a issues….perhaps a survival mechanic built into our genes?

You are the same person who posted about not having your period, right?

Well, the same reasons why you aren’t having your period could also be involved in your lack of libido. Having your period is your body being ready willing and able to procreate which, biologically speaking, is the whole point of having sex.

I think that would depend on how low you are pushing the calories and how low your overall body fat percentage is.
If you are a healthy weight, not skinny, and you are taking in ample calories from animal protein sources, that would be a signal to your body that, “Hey the hunting is good. Now would be a great time to add a kid to the tribe”.
Ketosis is said to mimic some of the effects of fasting but it is not the same thing as starvation.
