Anyone else on Keto Diet to combat inflammation?

Hi there,

I have been doing keto since about 4 weeks, not to lose weight, but to fight severe rheumatoid arthritis. So far amazing results, I feel a million times better – less pain, less joint stiffness, more energy and focus. Also haven’t felt depressed in weeks! Really didn’t expect that! I’ve tried about every treatment, medication, diet and supplement in the past 15 years, with very mixed results.

This is the best I’ve felt in the past 10 years, even though I’ve been already eating healthy etc for a long time. I didn’t even have a flare up from jet lag when I went overseas recently, which was normally the case.

Would love to hear from others who are using this diet for inflammation reduction. Also interested in any research you can share. I couldn’t find many studies on this topic so far. Tx.

Hi!

Wow! What an amazing testimony! I am so happy to hear of your success. Thank you for sharing with us! I do not have the same condition as you but I do notice that my joints and body overall feels better with the reduced sugars! I can certainly tell if I overdid it on sugar because my joints begin to hurt and I feel achy!

I know that doesn’t quite answer your question but I just wanted to comment to say that I do notice a difference in my body!

Congrats again! Keep up the great work!

I am using keto diet to combat inflammation. I have Sjorgrens which is a form of rheumatoid arthritis. I have been on for 3 months now. My inflammation level has gone down and I have been able to come off of all medications in this time period. I was on methotrexate and plaquenal for inflammation. Both did nothing to alleviate the swelling or pain. Also, I also suffered from a lot of acid reflux. I have been able to stop PPI medication for that also.

Besides that I have been able to lose about 18 pounds which also has me feeling a lot better.

This is still a challenge as I am a sugar junkie. I also really like pasta, so there was a bit of struggle over that. I really like that I am not hungry like on other diets.

Hope this helps.

That’s incredible! Thanks for sharing your story. Quite an achievement in only 3 months. I am about to do a blood test this week for my inflammatory markers. Usually my CRP is around 20, very curious to see if it went down (pretty sure it did). Methotrexate is awful, congrats on being able to ditch it, together with 18 pounds! Cheers, Sandra
